The vineyards
With more than 350 hectares of old vineyards in the center of La Rioja Alavesa, sheltered by the Sierra de Cantabria, we produce COTA 585. That height of 585 meters with its continuous aeration and the limestone soil, unique in the whole world, make our strains offer crops that are contained in quantity and of exceptional quality.
The slow maturation and the selection of the time of harvest give our new COTA 585 wine its particular character and strength.
In recent years, new environmentally friendly viticulture practices have been incorporated that make our vineyards increasingly sustainable. Among others, precision viticulture to be able to analyze the evolution of different areas in the same plot.
Our cooperative members collect the grapes on their own farms in Elvillar de Álava, with homogeneous calcareous clay soils and different orientations, and in the nearby towns of Lantziego, Laguardia, Kripan, Páganos, Leza ...
